Prayon is a major player on the market for phosphates used in the food and technical industry, as well as in horticulture. The Group holds particularly strong positions in the processed meat, dairy product, seafood and drinks sectors.

  • Prayon is one of the main suppliers for the industrial sector, in which phosphates are used, for example, for treating metals, flame retardants, detergents, etc.;
  • In the field of horticulture, Prayon is the main supplier of soluble MAP and DAP in Europe;
  • Last but not least, based on its wide range of products, including phosphates and fluorides, Prayon is a major supplier for the personal care sector, including toothpastes.

Prayon – a reliable, world-renowned partner

  • The Prayon Group’s most important customers are based in Europe and North America, which are regions with relatively high costs. As it made the strategic decision to manufacture products close to its customers, the competitiveness of the Prayon Group is based mainly on the high-end nature of its products and fueled by various qualitative factors, including the efficiency of its teams, processes and technologies, continuous research aimed at innovation and quality, as well as collaboration with partners who share the same values;
  • These factors, which it has supported over the years as part of a continuous improvement strategy, have enabled Prayon to become and remain a leading company within its sectors, while ensuring that its operations grow and remain profitable;
  • Prayon is considered a reliable market player. In order to provide its customers with more added value, on a daily basis, the Group develops its “solution provider” strategy;
  • At a time when everything is changing rapidly, Prayon finds itself in what is known as a VUCA world, which is Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. Within this Environment, the Prayon team has embarked on a journey of transformation, with the aim of seizing new opportunities and increasing its profitability by successfully completing its projects. The starting point for this exciting adventure was its new mission (Enriching daily life through phosphorus chemistry), its vision (Our technology makes a difference) and its values (We aim far, high, together and we deliver). In order to understand the challenges of the outside world, Prayon has created a “HEATMAP”. On this basis, Prayon has prepared the way by developing its strategy. The Group has decided where it wants to be and how it will get there. Prayon has defined its strategic roadmap based on real projects. While everyday activities are essential, strategic projects have the power to transform the company. The success of these projects is a key element in its transformation. In this context, the Prayon Group remains open to all growth opportunities that are linked to its vision. This was demonstrated by its acquisition of the Febex plant in Bex (CH) at the beginning of 2023;
  • From the societal point of view, this competitiveness enables Prayon to generate significant added value, which is redistributed extensively at local level between its production sites and, in particular, through the salaries paid to its 1,500 or so employees. In turn, a proportion of these salaries helps finance public services via social contributions and taxes.

Our achievements in 2023

  • 2022 was a period of financial recovery for Prayon. In 2023, this recovery was confirmed, although it was a year marked by difficult market conditions, including especially low demand in Europe, abundant supply and therefore significantly lower volumes than expected – both for Prayon and all our competitors. In order to guarantee its results, Prayon reacted with agility by protecting its margins and continuing to serve its loyal customers. As a result, Prayon experienced production shutdowns, but thanks to the flexibility shown by its employees, the Group was not forced to make anyone redundant for economic reasons or reduce its workforce. It actually continued to increase investments in its plants, while focusing on the environment, energy transition and safety. The company had a successful year in 2023 and can now face 2024 with a greater sense of calm, while continuing to build, with everyone’s help, the Prayon of tomorrow;
  • At the beginning of 2024, Prayon is introducing S/4HANA, the new version of SAP, with the following objectives: increased reliability, harmonization and optimization of working approaches and therefore a better service. Prayon has been working on a “changeover plan” in order to ensure a successful transition to the new solution. The ambitious training program, which includes 90 course subjects and was completed by 700 users – half of all the Group’s employees – has been an essential factor in this success.
