Our initiatives

The decision to set up production sites in countries with relatively high labor costs and work with local training/employment agencies forms an integral part of Prayon’s strategy.

With 95% of its workers living in the same region as the site where they work, Prayon is proud to play a part in the socio-economic development of the regions where it operates.

In order to tell people about its work, Prayon regularly welcomes interns or students looking for temporary work during the summer who complete tasks, for which no specialist expertise is required, while paying special attention to their safety.

In addition, several representatives from Prayon have contributed as volunteers to various initiatives aimed at providing training and employment by means of various structures, such as the Essenscia federation, the Human Resources network at Puurs, the Employment and Education Commission of the Walloon Union of Companies, the Fondation pour l’Enseignement, the EPM Education, Centré Quality Hainaut-Namur, etc.

Last but not least, most of the tasks subcontracted by Prayon are completed by local partners who can provide the required expertise.

Our achievements in 2023

  • We are proud to share our knowledge, expertise and abilities with future talents and contribute to their training;
    • By welcoming a large number of young people to all our sites through a variety of programs: internships, student jobs, work-study, training, etc.;
    • By attending a wide variety of trade exhibitions, fairs and employment open days in the different regions where our plants are based. The Engis site also took part in the job day organized by the local employment agency;
    • The Puurs site participated in the launch of Essenscia’s work-study program focusing on chemical processes for engineering students looking for internships;
  • Prayon promotes soft mobility:
    • Engis: bicycle parking, accessible showers and cloakrooms, mileage allowances;
    • Puurs: leasing of e-bikes, secure bicycle parking with battery charging points, accessible showers and cloakrooms;
    • Managers entitled to a company car can opt for a smaller vehicle that comes with a bike;
    • The Engis site has implemented a “car pool policy” in order to facilitate employee mobility, by providing a computer platform that helps to put users in touch with one another.
  • At Engis, 173 Prayon employees were presented with one or more honorary award(s) in recognition of their long periods of service, some of which spanned up to 35 years, and were congratulated by policy managers and Prayon CEO, Geoffrey Close, at a ceremony attended by over 400 people. All the people who received an award were thanked for devoting their professional lives and showing commitment to the company. These distinctions embody values cherished by the broader Prayon family. The guests also included a large number of representatives from the local authorities.
