Our achievements in 2022
Our key indicator
- Share of technical purchases in the national territory of production sites (in revenue, excluding exceptional investments).
Our actions
With the exception of phosphate rock, which cannot be obtained in the vicinity of our production sites, we attach particular importance to sustainable sourcing from suppliers located in the same economic zone as our production sites in the European Union and the USA.
We also ensure that our transport is as sustainable as possible. Within our production sites, activities form an integrated chain that minimizes handling. Externally, we prioritize waterway transport: in 2022, 74.5% of raw materials used were transported by ship, 21.5% by road and 4% by rail.
Finally, in terms of training and innovation, we favor partnerships with local players, such as the University of Liege or Mons (BE) and the Ecole de Mines d’Albi (FR), as well as the Technifutur center (BE) and the Lycée Professionnel François Verguin in Roussillon (FR).
Our achievements in 2022
- Raw material purchases: all raw materials used at our Engis (BE), Puurs (BE) and Les Roches (FR) sites originate in Europe, with the exception of basic acid and phosphate rock. When it comes to Augusta (USA), all raw materials originate in the USA, with the exception of the acid sourced from a European Prayon site;
- Technical purchases: 76.7% of purchases – excluding raw materials – are manufactured on the site’s national territory (Engis: 78%, Puurs: 78%, Les Roches: 69%). This KPI dropped from 79.90% to 76.70%, while remaining above the target (≥ 70%).
